How to renew your electoral card: neighborhood URPs are also open
If it is lost, there is a counter to request a duplicate in Piazza Liber Paradisus 10, which will be open on Sunday from 7am to 11pm and on Monday from 7am to 3pm. The same hours are also available for the URPs of the neighborhoods (Borgo-Reno via Battindarno 123, Porto-Saragozza piazza Maggiore, San Donato-San Vitale piazza Spadolini 7 and Savena via Arno 26) where for the first time you can request the issue of the electoral card and also the issue of the electronic identity card. In this case you must present yourself with a report of theft or loss together with another document, even if it has expired.

At the polling station with the ballot paper
In order to vote, you must present your voter card and identity card or another identity document (the receipt for the electronic identity card request is also valid). Before going to your polling station, you must check whether your voter card has empty spaces that can be used to certify your participation in the vote. If they are exhausted, the card must be renewed.

How to vote. Up to two preferences, but of different kinds
A maximum of two preference votes can be expressed, but be careful: if two preferences are indicated they must be of different genders (a man and a woman), otherwise the second preference will be cancelled. It is possible to vote separately, that is, to also vote for a list that supports a different candidate; in this case, you must cross the name of the presidential candidate and also cross the list.

How to vote. The sign on the board
Each voter can vote only for one candidate for the presidency of the Region by drawing a mark on the relevant rectangle. The vote for the list also automatically goes to the presidential candidate. You can also indicate the list and, next to the symbol, express your preference, that is, indicate the surname of the candidate for the regional council you want to support.

The candidates. Luca Teodori, the former Northern League member against mandatory vaccination
Luca Teodori, 55 years old, born in Ferrara where he has been a trader since 2001, is the true outsider, running for the presidency of Emilia-Romagna with the “Loyalty, Coherence and Truth” list, which has the abolition of mandatory vaccination. He has a political past: from 1995 to 1999 he was a provincial councilor in Ferrara elected with the League. But then he found that the ideals of the Northern League were “diluting”.

The candidates. Elena Ugolini, from Malpighi high school to the dream of leading the Region
Elena Ugolini, born in Rimini in 1959, took the first step to run as a civic candidate on 8 July, then was supported by the centre-right parties. His field of action, despite his birth in Romagna, is Bologna: he is the soul of the private Malpighi high school, which under his guidance has become a giant of equal education. It is close to Communion and Liberation.

The candidates. Federico Serra for the radical left: “Opposition is made through struggles”
Federico Serra, employee of a social cooperative and USB delegate for the housing emergency, is 33 years old and is the candidate of the radical Left, supported by Potere al Popolo which achieved good results in Bologna. It could take away votes from the centre-left, thanks also to the environmentalist issues it highlights, and to the discontent with the large party that has governed here for years.

The candidates. De Pascale, the mayor who knew how to keep the center-left united
Michele de Pascale was born in Cesena on 20 January 1985 and for many years lived in Cervia, Romagna. Son of a republican and nephew of a Christian Democrat and a communist, de Pascale began politics at a very young age. On 12 July 2024, after a long negotiation within the Democratic Party and with allies with the other possible candidate Vincenzo Colla, de Pascale was chosen by the Democratic Party as the candidate to succeed Stefano Bonaccini in the Region.

The analysis: the game that the Democratic Party cannot lose
The game that the Democratic Party cannot lose. This is Emilia-Romagna for the left: the field where if you win it’s a given, but if you lose it’s over. For many, if not for all. With this state of mind the polls open, today and tomorrow, to elect his successor Stefano Bonaccini.
