With the presence of leaders, presidents of the drinking water committee and mayors, the Ñuble Regional Council approved the prioritization of four rural sanitation projects, presented by the Hydraulic Works Directorate, which will benefit 1,255 families in the region. The initiatives add up to a total investment of $7,353 million and are located in the towns of San Miguel in the commune of San Ignacio; in Bajo Los Amigos de Coihueco; Buli Caserío – Tiuquilemu de Ñiquén and El Nogal de Bulnes.
Additionally, the resources for the design of the sewage system and improvement of the drinking water system in Tres Esquinas de Bulnes were granted, with an investment of $226 million.
In his capacity as president of the Regional Council, Governor Óscar Crisóstomo, explained that “thousands of people will benefit from these projects, which are part of a job that we began a while ago, where with funds from the Regional Government, we began the designs that they were referred to the DOH; Those designs are already finishing, they have obtained their corresponding RS and now, with sectoral funds from the Ministry of Public Works, execution is required and for that, as mandated by law, this Regional Council has decided to prioritize the four projects”. In this way, he emphasized, “we realize the commitment we have had since day one, where water matters, mainly for human consumption, have been our priority and will continue to be, because today there are about 30,000 people and families who they are supplied with tank trucks and that situation must end”.
For his part, the regional counselor, Jezer Sepúlveda, who is president of the Agriculture and Water Resources commission, highlighted the importance of the session because “we prioritize more than 7,000 million pesos for APR in sectors of Bulnes, San Ignacio, Ñiquén and coihueco. The leaders were present, who were recognized for their tremendous work, because they have to have a lot of patience and understanding of the communities and in the end they achieved the objective. I feel very flattered because it is important for the communities, there are families that have already taken a concrete step to later have rural drinking water and I want to highlight, as I have always said, the Governor because he puts priorities on the table”.
