Coming this Friday, June 11 to support the socialist Antoine Hoareau in the canton of Dijon 1, the words of Bernard Cazeneuve in opposition to the National Gathering quickly concerned the regional elections and even the presidential election. “The relaxation of the republican spirit leaves the populists a space for development”, analyzed the former Prime Minister of François Hollande.
The candidates compete to attract the attention of the voters by mobilizing national personalities moving in Burgundy-Franche-Comté and, more specifically in Dijon.
After a video with the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo (PS), Antoine Hoareau (PS) won the arrival of former Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve (PS) this Friday, June 11, 2021.
The canton of Dijon 1 in the crosshairs
Candidate for the Dijon 1 canton (read our article), Antoine Hoareau is also secretary of the Dijon section of the Socialist Party, which explains why his partner for the departmental elections, Karine Savina (Generation Ecology) remained behind during the interventions.
Around the holders, substitutes Jacques Cardis (PS) and Souad Samade (EELV) were also present. The quartet is launching its elections in Côte-d’Or as part of an alliance formed by the Socialist Party, Europe Écologie Les Verts, Génération Écologie, Cap Écologie, the French Communist Party and Génération.s (read the press release).
The Socialist Party forward
However, this Friday evening, it is the Socialist Party which is on the front of the stage, around the one who was Prime Minister for five months and Minister of the Interior from April 2014 to December 2016 under the five-year term of Francois Hollande. Around the table, the time of a press conference at the restaurant La Menuiserie, places are limited to six people, barrier gestures oblige.
Are there François Rebsamen (PS), mayor of Dijon, Marie-Guite Dufay (PS), outgoing president of the Region and who is representing himself, Antoine Hoareau therefore as well as two running mates of Marie-Guite Dufay: Nadjoua Belhadef (PS), deputy to the mayor of Dijon, and Océane Charret-Godard, vice-president of the outgoing region.
“Block the far right and the far right”
“We carry the same fights at departmental and regional level, fights to block the far-right and the far-right, to defend the values of the Republic which are ours: freedom, equality, fraternity ”, declares Antoine Hoareau. The tone is set. The presentations will focus on the potential electoral victories of candidates from the National Rally, in the cantons or in the Region.
“Today, we are witnessing a nationalization [des] polls, while we have to answer concrete questions at the level of the skills of each of our communities ”, reframes Marie-Guite Dufay who deplores the fact that the national theme of security is invited in the local polls by passing to the rear -campaign plan for economic development, innovation, agriculture, social cohesion or even sustainable development.
“Under François Hollande’s five-year term, 9,000 police and gendarme positions were created”
The former Minister of the Interior begins his remarks by recalling having come to Dijon to inaugurate a gendarmerie school in 2016 as part of the restructuring of the former BA 102 in Longvic. It is easy to recall that during the mandate of Nicolas Sarkozy, “thirteen police and gendarmerie schools and 13,000 police and gendarmerie stations were suppressed” while “under François Hollande’s five-year term, it was created 9,000 posts: 6,000 posts in the local police and gendarmerie, 3,000 posts in the intelligence services, and we have created six schools ”.
Bernard Cazeneuve salutes a city having “a tradition of bringing together all the forces of progress”. Here too, the tone is set: not to receive lessons on security and to call for a rally to win the electoral deadlines.
“A city where there is an exceptional dynamic of urban transformation”
The guest pays tribute to his hosts by evoking “a city where there is a dynamic of economic development and exceptional urban transformation” and “a region where you have Madam President contribute in recent years to give a lot of scope to policies economic development, cultural development, training development policies to allow all categories of the population to have access to employment, development of policies focused on sustainable development and development also actions intended to so that this region remains one and indivisible and united around the great values of the Republic ”.
“A large gathering around the outgoing president”
“All the policies which have been implemented and which have been carried over the last few years both in the communities, the Metropolises and the Region, would be dismantled immediately if the National Front had a possibility of achieving its goal. », Warns Bernard Cazeneuve. Between the action of the Region and the Metropolis of Dijon, Bernard Cazeneuve analyzes that “there are large-scale public policies”.
“I came here because I do not want in any region of France that the National Front can achieve its political goal”, asserts the Socialist. For this, “a large gathering around the outgoing president and her teams is the best strategy if we want to prevent the Front National from winning this region”.
“There is what we hold in the Republic above all, these are the values of fraternity, harmony, living together which are at the crucible of the Republic and without which we would take the risk of organizing the confrontation of all against all, insists Bernard Cazeneuve.
The former Minister of the Interior highlights the opposition of the Front National on the French or European legislative arsenal deployed between 2012 and 2017. Law on intelligence to prevent attacks, European system for identifying passengers at risk, budgets increasing the operating funds of the police and the gendarmerie, reform of the Schengen border code to control Europeans returning from the conflicts in Iraq and Syria … “the National Front voted against”.
“The National Rally in the region is fairly consistent with what it is everywhere else: extremist and outrageous. The regional right has the eyes of Chimène for the National Gathering, especially in certain cantons of the city ”, Bernard Cazeneuve slips about the canton of Dijon 1.
“The relaxation of the republican spirit leaves the populists a space for development”
“There are several elements that explain the rooting of the National Front in the country. First of all, the fact that the social question, of territorial disparity, of the relegation of a certain number of territories – the Yellow Vests have shown it – is an old and deep phenomenon (…) in the face of which the current government no. ‘failed – even though Emmanuel Macron was elected with a large progressive rally against Marine Le Pen – to provide the appropriate answers. Secondly, there is a new way of communicating politically through the digitization and the development of the Internet which makes that excesses are more easily summoned today than yesterday, so populism finds more flourish today. There is also in many political formations a loss of sight of what are the republican principles and the republican behavior. The relaxation of the republican spirit naturally leaves the populists a space for development that they had not known until now. It is in the recovery of the Republicans, whatever their political affiliation, that lies a large part of the response to the rise for almost thirty years now of the National Front and its entrenchment in the political landscape. You must not be softly republican when you want to fight against the National Front, you have to be ardently, ”Bernard Cazeneuve analyzes.
Marie-Guite Dufay, “most effective” candidate to eliminate the National Rally in the second round
“If we want to eliminate in the second round the one we do not want, we must prefer the first [le candidat] which is the most effective to eliminate in the second “, considers the Socialist who, obviously, Marie-Guite Dufay is the candidate” most effective “to eliminate the National Rally in the second round.
“To block the National Front, you have to look at the balance of forces. Today he is on the left. I lead a leftist list which is not completely assembled. (…) So I think it will come together very strongly in the second round. The issue of La République En Marche is a new deal compared to the 2015 ballot. (…) It is true that we do not know them in local ballots. With La République En Marche, we are already in the presidential election. I think they are like the Greens, they need to be counted in this ballot for the next presidential election “, analyzes Marie-Guite Dufay who adds” the Greens will be with us in the second round “.
Bernard Cazeneuve in favor of the presence of a PS presidential candidate
Since the presidential election is already in the background of these regional and since the strategy to address the next deadline is already debated within the governance of the PS (read the press release from Pierre Pribetich), Bernard Cazeneuve gives his position on this subject.
“A large governing party that does not have a presidential candidate ceases to be a large party. If our goal is to become a very small fringe party, it is better not to have a presidential candidate. If we want to be a big governing party, which has always been the case in the history of our organization for decades, it is better to have one, ”he says.
After these considerations, Marie-Guite Dufay joined her campaign team for a long-planned digital meeting. Bernard Cazeneuve, François Rebsamen and Antoine Hoareau then gave the starting signal for a stroll in the city center of Dijon, taking the rue de la Liberté to join the Devosge room in order to participate in “an internal meeting” of the Socialist Party.
