Regio: March 1st: RVF JugendTicketBW is coming – Subscription for all young people up to the age of 27 for nationwide journeys – The Freiburg Regio-Verkehrsverbund provides information

A state-wide youth ticket will be available in Baden-Württemberg on March 1, 2023. The Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg (RVF) will also offer the youth ticket.

Young people under the age of 27 can use the RVF JugendTicketBW to travel on all public transport throughout Baden-Württemberg. It is available as a convenient subscription. Anyone under the age of 21 only needs proof of age. If you are between 21 and 27 years old, you need proof of training or study. The RVF JugendTicketBW will cost 30.42 euros or 365 euros per year. Subscription fees are debited monthly.

This attractive tariff offer is made possible because the state of Baden-Württemberg and the regional authorities – these are the city of Freiburg and the districts of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald – finance the reduced income of the transport companies. The state of Baden-Württemberg covers 70% of the costs, the regional authorities 30%.

“We are pleased to be able to make this offer for all schoolchildren, trainees and students. This means that young people are mobile around the clock and at a very reasonable price,” says Dorothee Koch, Managing Director of the RVF.

In the RVF area – which includes the city of Freiburg and the districts of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald – there are some grants for student transport or for beneficiaries, third children, etc. Anyone who wants to receive these grants in addition needs a certificate from the school or training center in any case . However, this can make the RVF JugendTicketBW even cheaper. Interested parties can find a calculator on rvf.de that shows the exact price of the RVF JugendTicketBW.

All current customers with a student subscription do not have to do anything, they will automatically receive the RVF JugendTicketBW from March. The easiest way for everyone else to order the new ticket online is from February: at abo.vag-freiburg.de/jugendticket there should be a corresponding input mask to apply for the subscription. Students can still contact their school. The RVF supplies the schools with information brochures including a subscription application.

The RVF JugendTicketBW replaces the student subscription. The student subscription will only be available to people over the age of 27 who are in training/school.

Frequently asked questions about the RVF JugendTicketBW:

– What is the RVF JugendTicketBW?:
The RVF JugendTicketBW is an offer for children and all young people so that they can use local public transport from all transport associations throughout Baden-Württemberg at low cost. The RVF JugendTicketBW is only available as a subscription. It is financially supported by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the urban and rural districts in Baden-Württemberg.

– How much does the RVF JugendTicketBW cost?:
The JugendTicketBW costs a maximum of 30.42 euros per month, making exactly 365 euros a year.

Pupils often receive a subsidy for school transport. Then the subscription will be significantly cheaper. Beneficiaries, third-party children or students at SBBZ also receive grants.

– Who can buy the RVF JugendTicketBW?:
All young people under the age of 21 without further proof – provided they do not receive a subsidy. Otherwise, proof is also required here. Young people between the ages of 21 and 26 always need proof of training or further education. This includes students, trainees and buffs.

For pupils and students, the place of school or study must be in the RVF. Anyone under the age of 21 and not in training (school, trainee, university, etc.) must live in the RVF. The RVF area is the city of Freiburg and the districts of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald.

– How to buy the RVF JugendTicketBW?:
The RVF JugendTicketBW is only available as a convenient subscription. The easiest way to apply for this is online from February at Freiburger Verkehrs AG (VAG): abo.vag-freiburg.de/jugendticket. The VAG looks after the subscribers on behalf of the RVF.

From the end of January there will be applications for the subscription in the schools. Likewise in the sales points of the transport companies. Personal advice is available at the VAG customer center pluspunkt.

For minors, the legal guardian(s) apply for the subscription.

– Where is the RVF JugendTicketBW valid?:
The RVF JugendTicketBW is valid on all buses and trains of local public transport in Baden-Württemberg, but not on long-distance buses or long-distance rail passenger transport (e.g. IC, EC, ICE of Deutsche Bahn AG).

– Can I also buy the RVF JugendTicketBW as a monthly pass?:
No, the RVF JugendTicketBW is only available as an annual subscription. The offer aims to bind young people to public transport in the long term. The low price can only be represented by an annual commitment. For this purpose, the state, the rural and urban districts provide over 100 million euros per year.

– I currently have two student subscriptions from two neighboring transport associations. What should I do?:
In fact, these students only need the nationwide youth ticket. You would then have to cancel one of the two student subscriptions. Important: please keep the subscription from the association in which you go to school. The youth ticket must be obtained there. There is no freedom of choice here. Example: you live in Herbolzheim (RVF) and go to school in Ettenheim (TGO). Then the youth ticket must be obtained in the TGO. Or you live in Kandern (RVL) and go to school in Muellheim (RVF). Then the youth ticket must be obtained from the RVF.

– I am over 27 years old and still studying. Do I also get the RVF JugendTicketBW?:
no The JugendTicketBW can no longer be purchased from the 27th birthday. For students, however, there is still the inexpensive RVF SemesterTicket. This means that students in the RVF are mobile for only 89 euros per semester (6 months).
