Regime recognizes increase in violent crimes in Santiago de Cuba – 2024-04-09 19:26:05

After months of denying itthe Castro regime finally recognized an increase in the number of violent crimes, at least those reported in the province of Santiago de Cuba.

According to the chief prosecutor of the Provincial Department of Criminal Proceedings, Elizabeth Govea Maceo, a high rate of events related to “violent events and crimes committed against the life and integrity of people” has been recorded in this territory,

Through statements given to the official media Sierra Maestrathe official tried to downplay the importance of the situation, ensuring that injuries predominated over “violent deaths.”

Likewise, he said that although these events have been recorded in which the lives and bodily integrity of several people were affected, these violent events were not those that “characterize the criminal environment of the territory,” as if the fact that there were more crimes Otherwise, it will downplay the importance of the murders and attacks recorded in the province.

The opinion given by the public official contrasts with that of the community on social networks, which has reported for months an increase in the incidence of violent crimes that end in the death of a person.

As they usually do in these cases, the authorities dismissed the opinion of the people, stating that this perception was due to the visibility that the complaints receive on the various social networks.

Likewise, the official brandished another of the excuses most recently used by the regime, which states that there is a “media war” in which “malicious” people manipulate the facts of the publications.

“It does not imply in all cases that the way in which they socialize on the Internet has happened, because after the investigations have been exhausted, sometimes it happens that what was disclosed did not happen that way,” said Govea Maceo.

However, what he did not mention was the fact that if it were not for these complaints, people would not know even half of the events that occur in the territory, since the official press specializes in evading issues like these in a attempt to maintain the apparent calm that the regime claims exists on the Island.

Govea also questioned the intentions of the complaints made on social networks, since, according to her, they only distort events and create uncertainty. These statements show that the official really finds it impossible that the possibility that social discontent itself is what drives the population to denounce these events in search of change.

Finally, the official also acknowledged an increase in crimes related to livestock, such as theft and illegal slaughter, and youth, such as gang activity and drug trafficking.
