No fourth Summer hit for Niels Destadsbader, Regi can take the trophy home for the first time. The viewers of One and the listeners of Radio 2 voted en masse for “Come a little closer”, the fruit of the collaboration between Regi, singer Jake Reese and singer OT. The song itself is Gene Thomas original.
Regi received the Radio 2 Zomerhit during a live show from Blankenberge by Walter Grootaerts, who exactly thirty years ago won the Zomerhit himself with De Kreuners for their big hit “I want you”.
“It makes me emotional. We are going to celebrate that in the Sportpaleis. Everything will be fine”, was Regi’s acceptance speech.
The corona epidemic made it a special edition of the Radio 2 Summer Hit this year. For example, there was no live audience on site in Blankenberge, but there was a digital live audience.
