The Junta de Andalucía has published the award of the regeneration works of the main access to the Federico García Lorca school in the town of Güevéjar which will improve its security. The objective of the works contract is the creation of a safe school itinerary for parents and minors who use the center.
As reported by the Junta de Andalucía in a press release, this contract is part of the Urban Public Space Regeneration Program (Prepu), known as Plan Vive Tu Ciudad. The award comes after a collaboration agreement was signed at the end of the year between the Ministry of Public Works and the City Council to guarantee the financing and execution of the works.
The intervention, which has been entrusted to Construction Management Stuc For 54,469 euros, it will make it possible to adapt Federico García Lorca street, where the main access to the school is located, to achieve a safer and more accessible route and, in turn, encourage the educational community to go on foot to class.
As stated in the specifications, action will be taken on an area of 3,950 square meters where pedestrian crossings, speed bumps for slow down trafficbenches with pergolas, more vegetation (of native species) and sources of drinking water.
Likewise, the contract proposes lowering corners and sidewalks to improve accessibility, designing a safe school itinerary and including bicycle parking to promote more sustainable and less polluting mobility alternatives. To reinforce the creation of this safe school itinerary, traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, speed bumps and zone 30 will be supplied.
