MOSCOW – Direct meeting between the President Russia Vladimir Putin and partners from Ukraine , Volodymyr Zelensky , depending on the “modality” of the document they will sign. It was said by an official Kremlin responding to the possibility of a meeting between the two heads of state.

Answering reporters’ questions about whether the document resolving the conflict in Ukraine requires the two presidents to sign it directly or not, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it depends on the modality of the document which has not yet been agreed, as reported by Russian news agency TASS.

Peskov also noted that the Russian side is ready to work faster than it is currently, but “unfortunately” the Ukrainian side is showing no signs of speeding up the process.

“Despite these facts, a workflow is ongoing,” the Kremlin spokesman confirmed Russia TodayFriday (18/3/2022).

Ukraine’s presidential aide, Mikhail Podolyak, said Thursday that Zelensky could meet Putin “in the coming weeks,” but only on the condition that a peace agreement between Moscow and Kiev is in place.

The Russian and Ukrainian delegations have held several rounds of peace talks in Belarus since the start of the ongoing hostilities in late February, which continued in the format of daily videoconferences. The negotiations have led to Kiev and Moscow finding common ground in organizing a humanitarian corridor to evacuate civilians from the war zone.
