Regal Cinemas closes 39 US theaters following parent company Cineworld’s bankruptcy filing

Regal Cinemas prepares to close 39 movie theater in the United States in mid-February, according to a new document filed this week in bankruptcy court by its British parent company Cineworld.

Cineworld, which filed for bankruptcy in September, wrote that his “businesses have been severely impacted by the global spread of COVID-19 and its aftermath, including a decline in movie theater attendance, a disrupted film release and production schedule, and an increase in alternative home entertainment”.
