Rega Institute develops powerful virus inhibitor for dengue fever

Researchers at KU Leuven are the first in the world to develop a drug against the dengue virus. Dengue or dengue fever is a disease that mainly occurs in tropical regions, such as Latin America and Asia. It gives you a high fever and muscle aches, and about 25,000 people still die from the virus every year. The fact that a drug has now been developed against the disease is therefore a milestone.
