Refusing to give bribes, this woman is dragged down the street using a truck yard all

NAIROBI, KOMPAS.com – A woman in Kenya being dragged away office local used trucks, because he refused to give them bribe.

Footage of the incident that took place in the city of Kisumu shows local residents chasing a truck with the victim tied behind it.

The victim, identified as a 39-year-old fruit seller, was injured in his arms and legs from being dragged nearly 500 meters.

Local governor Peter Anyang ‘Nyong’o admitted that he was very surprised and saddened by the behavior of his subordinates.

Reported Daily Mail Thursday (25/3/2021), Anyang ‘Nyong’o confirmed that he would investigate the government officials involved.

Kenyan media reported that it all started when the woman selling oranges and lemonade was intercepted by officials.

He is said to have refused to pay bribes set by soldiers, nicknamed local officials, who were indeed fond of blackmailing locals.

“They usually take our belongings and demand money before we have the chance to respond,” explained the victim to The Nation.

The victim said that because he refused to pay a certain amount of money, he was immediately taken and dragged away by a truck.

“On that day, I thought I would die because they kept dragging me,” said the unidentified woman.

It was reported that one of the officers in the truck grabbed the victim’s hand and eroded his knee from the road.

Local residents who saw the scene were angry, and chased the truck which immediately turned to the nearest police station.

The victim’s son was reportedly detained for confronting the authorities, while his mother was immediately rushed to the hospital.

The Kenyan Commission on Human Rights said the 17-second recording was disgusting, and demanded that the perpetrators be prosecuted before the law.

Meanwhile, Anyang ‘Nyong’o ordered the city manager to detain the suspects for the sake of investigation.
