Refusing to approve the sale of beer company shares, the chairman of the DKI DPRD: I don’t want to go to prison

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Chairman of the DPRD DKI Jakarta Prasetio Edi Marsudi stated that he does not want to be involved in the sale of shares owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government beer company PT Delta Djakarta Tbk.

The PDI-P politician admitted that he had consulted several law enforcement agencies and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) regarding this matter.

Prasetio said that if he participated in approving the sale of PT Delta’s shares, it was feared that there would be a legal process taking place.

“I’m young in and out of prison, I don’t want to go to prison again,” said Prasetio deeply talkshow which aired on Akbar Faizal’s YouTube channel, Tuesday (16/3/2021).

Prasetio invited DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to use his discretionary rights to sell shares belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

Prasetio said that the right to discretion or make decisions by himself had been exercised in the era of DKI Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok.

“Go ahead break up (selling shares), the governor (Anies) has a lot of discretion, “said Prasetio.

“Go ahead and do it, but I’m not participating,” said Prasetio.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government had written four letters to the DKI Jakarta DPRD to discuss the sale of PT Delta’s shares.

However, until now, Prasetio has not responded to the letter sent by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

However, there are four factions in the DKI DPRD that support the sale of shares, namely the PAN Faction, the PKS Faction, the Golkar Faction, and the Gerindra Faction.

PT Delta Djakarta is the holder of the production and distribution license for several international beer brands.

The DKI Provincial Government has invested shares in PT Delta since the era of Governor Ali Sadikin’s leadership in 1970.

The average profit that PT Delta earns for the DKI Provincial Government is Rp 50 billion.

Governor Anies Baswedan then promised to sell shares of the beer company during the 2017 DKI Pilkada campaign.

The DKI Pemprov began to merge share ownership in the name of the DKI Pemprov and the DKI Jakarta Investment Management Board which reached 26.25 percent in 2019.

This effort is one of the processes leading to the sale of Delta Djakarta’s shares.
