Refused to remove outrageous review

During World War II, Auschwitz was created by the Germans. Auschwitz is also the German name for the Polish city of Oswiecim, where the three huge concentration camps were built.

Throughout the war, horrific war crimes and the massacre of prisoners took place there.

The concentration camps were an important piece in the Nazi Holocaust, which was the genocide of Jews. More than 1.1 million people were killed in Auschwitz during World War II.

In total, Auswitch consisted of three different main camps: Auswitch one, Auswitch two and Auswitch three.

Today, the camps have been turned into a museum and memorial for those who lost their lives there. It is an important symbol that testifies to the atrocities that took place.

“Fun for the whole family”

This week, staff at the museum discovered something that made them react.

Because on Tripadvisor’s pages, which is a website where tourists can review different destinations so that others can benefit from their experiences, a rather ugly review of the Holocaust Museum Auschwitz appeared.

A user had left a review where it was joked that you can take an infant into a gas chamber at the museum and that the museum visit was “fun for the whole family”.

The staff at the museum contacted Tripadvisor immediately, but they were told that the review was in line with their guidelines and that it should not be removed.

After a while, the review was still removed and Tripadviser came out with a press release.

Sorry to the Jewish community

They write that in reviewing complaints, they use a combination of technology and employees to process what comes in. Whether this particular complaint was processed by an employee or by the auto-review service is not stated.

– After a closer review, the review was removed, Tripadvisor writes.

They then regret that it was not removed earlier.

– We always aim to get it right the first time and we apologize to the Auschwitz memorial, the museum, the Jewish community and all other minorities and individuals who were supported by this, the company continues.

Following Tripadvisor’s apology, the Auschwitz Museum has stated that it is grateful that the company finally took action.
