The events took place in the night between Saturday and Sunday around 3 in the morning. Police intervened for urban rodeo acts between two vehicles. The first driver quickly refused to obey and shifted into reverse.
A multiplication of refusals to comply
In a statement, the Alliance police union stresses that the man “fled while trying to hit the police”, forcing “one of them to shoot twice”.
While escaping from the urban rodeo scene, the driver first injured three police officers who were trying to stop him before colliding with a police vehicle that had just arrived at the scene.

Alliance specifies that the man was driving a stolen vehicle that he abandoned before fleeing. He is currently still wanted.
The police union believes that the situation on the Basque coast is worrying as it is “positioned on a rapidly expanding migratory axis, which is becoming a bottleneck favoring the development of crime of all kinds”.
