Support in the procurement of learning material or even a microphone system for the break hall, on class trips or school celebrations – the Friends’ Association of the Walkenried primary school has been providing financial support for the pupils and the entire educational institution since it was founded in 1993. The association finances itself through membership fees, donations and, above all, the proceeds from events. In the Corona year 2020, however, this was hardly possible. The association members are all the more pleased about a special donation. The friends’ association received a check for 1,000 euros for its diverse work. This was made possible by the “WunschLos” campaign by the Braunschweig public insurance company.
Fulfill wishes
The insurer explains the idea behind the campaign as follows: “2020 has developed differently for all of us than we expected. Suddenly our everyday life was no longer everyday. So now is the time to catch up, make plans, and fulfill unfulfilled desires. And that’s exactly what we want to help the people in the region with – with the public’s wish lot. ”The support association of the Walkenried primary school was happy to take part in the campaign – and could now look forward to the help. 750 euros flowed from the “WunschLos”, and the Walkenried branch of the Braunschweig public insurance company contributed a further 250 euros. When Melanie Saemann from the agency in the monastery village handed it over to the primary school, there were only happy faces in the end.
“We are of course very pleased that the development association was able to take part in the competition and actually won it. We are even more pleased about the addition of the Walkenried office and thank you very much for it, ”declared the board members in unison. Headmistress Maren Lopez de Vergara y Hetzer is also enthusiastic about the money. There is already a plan for how the donation should be used.
Different options
The money is to be used to renovate the outdoor area of the elementary school, the so-called green classroom.
