The parents of a 17-year-old Iraqi who disappeared near Veselie are looking for him via “24 Chasa” from Istanbul
The Burgas morgue is overflowing with the corpses of refugees with no identity, who stand for months without being recognized and taken by their relatives.
At the same time, there is no place for the dead in the city and the region, warns Dr. Galya Mileva, longtime head of the pathology department.
He has written several times to all kinds of institutions about the mortuary problem with a request
to provide funds for an additional cold room
Even the director of UMBAL – Burgas, Dr. Boyko Mirazchiiski, knows the problem, which is not of yesterday.
Despite the migratory pressure of recent months, however, the situation at the Burgas morgue has become intolerable. Corpses of refugees were transported almost every day: those who died of frostbite, some disease or those who were lost. They are found in wooded areas near the Strandzha villages, which are on the migrant route. There have also been cases where
the bodies were eaten by animals
In recent days, the chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev also commented on the complex case, who said that while some say that there is no pressure from migrants, “Burgas hospitals are full of unidentified deaths that hunters find in the forest. They cannot be released because their identity cannot be established. “
“It is very difficult to recognize undocumented people, the procedure is long and cumbersome, and this preserves the corpses and overflows the morgue. It got to the point that when two policemen were hit by a bus full of Syrians at the crossing of “Trapezitsa”, there was no place to store their bodies, “says Dr. Mileva.
The situation has also worsened due to Ukrainian refugees, as deaths and their release from the morgue have often been delayed.
“We work in inhumane conditions. We have alerted all possible institutions, I recently spoke with the regional governor, Prof. Maria Neikova, who has promised cooperation. A new refrigerator must be purchased as soon as possible,” explained Dr. Mileva.
Meanwhile, a “24 Chasa” reporter was contacted by the parents of an Iraqi boy who disappeared in the Veselie village area near Primorsko on 18 September this year. He started with a group of illegal migrants from Turkey, but them
they abandoned him near Veselie, because he fell ill and walked with difficulty,
said his concerned parents, who are currently in Istanbul.
Hallat Mohammed is 17, his parents fled their homeland for him, to offer him a better life in Western Europe. The young man left with a group of refugees from Istanbul, who were supposed to reach Germany after crossing Bulgaria. Contact with Hallat has been interrupted since September 18 and his parents are very worried if their child is alive. They contacted a translator from Istanbul who spoke Bulgarian and he, moved by their story, asked for help at “24 hours”.
“I felt very sad when I saw them, we are human beings, we have to help each other”, explained the translator. The boy’s parents hope that with the help of the newspaper they will learn from the Bulgarian authorities what happened to their son.
The police and the prosecutor’s office promised to investigate.
