The issue of reforms to the entity was addressed by the Attorney General of the Nation, Margarita Cabello, within the framework of the International Congress of Disciplinary Law, which is taking place in Cartagena, and in the installation she referred to the initiative that exists in the country to reform the powers of the entity and the Comptroller’s Office.

“The current political situation in Colombia reflects a tension, an axiological tension, between the need to maintain control and supervision over public servants, including those elected by popular vote, and the protection of political and electoral rights. The Attorney General’s Office plays a crucial role in this axiological tension between these two extremes, oriented towards the need to take a good look at the current proposals of some sectors to make reforms, suggesting significant changes in the structure of the Attorney General’s Office and disciplinary law and also in their functions,” Cabello said.

And he added: “These are debates and presentation of reforms that really deserve a broad discussion, but also an objective discussion, a discussion that is free of personal interest, and a discussion that is free of bias, where the only intention is always the well-being of the people.” population and fight corruption more and more every day with strong institutions, strengthened institutions of different levels.”

The Attorney General insisted that the system of weights and counterweights, imposed by the 1990 constituent assembly in our country, is the most suitable mechanism to avoid excesses and abuses in the exercise of power.
