Libreville, August 03, 2023 (AGP) – The Disabled People’s Organization (OPH), in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural and Communication Organization (UNESCO), is organizing from 3 to 4 next August, a workshop that will enable strategies to be put in place to promote the involvement of people with disabilities in decision-making at the national level, at the National Chamber of Crafts in Gabon.
The representative of Social Affairs, Mathurin Mebalé, on behalf of the Minister of Health, opened the work of the support workshop for the development of the national disability policy in Gabon, this Thursday, August 3, 2023, in Libreville.
For two days, heads of associations and organizations of disabled people met in a workshop at the National Chamber of Gabonese craftsmen to set up an integrated national framework, dealing with the various issues relating to disability.
Also, to consider actions aimed specifically at people with disabilities in each of the relevant sectors.
“In the family, when there is a disabled child, the whole family gets involved to say that during this workshop, we also need the involvement of everyone, for better resolutions,” noted the Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO, Fred Paulin Abessolo.
The president of the disabled people’s organization, Jean Stanislas Ellang, did not fail to explain to the audience the wishes of these vulnerable people: “Our desire is that a vast and ambitious action plan be designed, co -constructed, adopted, implemented and then evaluated, while specifying the awareness and accessibility actions recognized as essential to allow equal rights and true inclusion of people with disabilitieses. »
