REFLECTION FOR THE SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

LISTEN TO JESUS

The center of the story of “The Transfiguration of Jesus” is occupied by the Voice, a symbol of the always mysterious presence of God that manifests itself to us. The Voice says: “This is my Son, the beloved, my favorite. Listen to him”.

Only Jesus is the beloved Son of God and his will is that we listen to him and establish a true relationship with him. At the end of his transfiguration Jesus approaches his disciples and, touching them, says: Get up! Do not be afraid!

Possibly there are many people who call themselves Christians and only know Jesus through some childhood memories and impressions, they live without listening to Jesus inside and, without that experience, it is not possible to know his strength to encourage and sustain our lives.

When a believer stops to listen to Jesus in silence, in the interior of his conscience, he always hears something like this: “Do not be afraid. Abandon yourself with all simplicity in the mystery of God, do not worry.

If you listen to me, you will discover that God’s love consists in always forgiving you and, if you believe this, your life will change. You will know the peace of the heart”. Jesus knocks on the door of our hearts. We can let it in or we can reject it. But we know very well that living with Jesus is not the same as living without him.
