After celebrating the 10th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto 5, fans of Rockstar Games’ multiplayer games are preparing to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the opening of the GTA Online servers.
October 1st marks the tenth anniversary of the launch of GTA 5’s online component, making it the perfect time for the Rockstar team to perfectly trace the history of the multiplayer blockbuster, looking back at the records and highlights of this iconic open-world experience.
The list compiled by Rockstar clearly demonstrates the importance of GTA Online in the entertainment industry (not just video games). During its first ten years, GTA Online servers were at the heart of the industry and a community staple, hosting global events and interactive experiences featuring international stars and millions of fans:
GTA Online has evolved over three generations of consoles.
Over 40 free updates have been released, adding new content and tons of new activities regularly. Since 2015, GTA Online has hosted the world premiere of Dr. Dre, as well as collaborations with Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Anderson.Paak and others. Players could listen to 25 radio stations covering genres as diverse as hip-hop, funk, soul, jazz, house, reggae, pop, classic rock and country, hosted by ROSALIA, Julian Casablancas, Big Boy, Kenny Loggins, Joy Orbison, Flying Lotus and many more In GTA Online, Rockstar brings the real-life nightclub experience to the Grand Theft Auto universe, giving players the opportunity to party with a host of world-class DJs such as Solomun, The Blessed Madonna, Tale of Us, Keinemusik, Palms Trax. and other GTA Online became the backdrop for the opening of the Diamond Casino and Resort, as well as the missions offered along with the heists that will be organized on the island of Cayo Perico. Over the course of ten years, many improvements have been made to the gameplay and “quality of life”, such as the GTA Online Career system, the addition of armor to the weapon wheel, an alternative sprint control option and much more.
