Engineer Reem Al-Muhaisni, head of thermal systems in the “Emirates Lunar Exploration Project”, confirmed that the most awaited moment is the arrival of the first data on the thermal conditions of the explorer “Rashid”, which will confirm the high efficiency in dealing with the harsh thermal environment on the surface of the moon.
This came in a 70-second video clip, which was posted by the ‘Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center’ on ‘Twitter’.
He explained that his role in the project was to design, analyze and conduct tests for the thermal control system, to ensure the safety of the devices and their high efficiency, in order to cope with temperature fluctuations on the surface of the moon.
Al-Muhaisni continued: “Prior to that mission, I was part of the team that developed the KhalifaSat satellite and subsequently, I was chosen to work on the Emirates Lunar Exploration Project with the development of this mission starting.”
And about the challenges he faced in the mission, he explained that it is represented by understanding the complex and harsh thermal environment on the surface of the moon, as it has been overcome by research procedures and experiments that simulate all the conditions of this environment.
At the end of the clip, Al-Muhaisni said: Only one word can describe this mission, “The Emirates Project to Explore the Moon”, which is “Emirates”.
