Pos: commissions will be reduced for payments under 30 euros The obligation for merchants and professionals to accept electronic payments via Pos continues to arouse debates, especially in relation to the costs associated with these operations and the so-called commissions that are borne by the merchants.
The table at which the traders’ trade associations and those of the banks and payment circuit operators sat down meant that the parties stood up satisfied and, in any case, with the feeling of having taken a step forward.
The protocol signed between the parties provides that the commissions will be reduced for payments up to 30 euros and, for those under 10 euros, even more sensitive commissions are envisaged. Furthermore, banks and electronic payment managers have undertaken to increase transparency of the different offers formulated, favoring the comparison between the costs that electronic payments bring with them.
The agreements apply to merchants with annual turnover of less than 400,000 euros and the signed protocol is open, thus allowing other trade associations and other payment service operators to join.
Confesercenti thinks that “the signing of the agreement is good news and can lead to savings on commissions of up to 500 million euros a year”.
