Reduced COVID-19 Fatalities Anticipated in 2022, yet Elevated Mortality Levels Expected

In the previous year, a similar number of people died as in the first two Corona years 2020 and 2021 – and thus significantly more than in the years before the pandemic began. In total there were 92,107 deceased. According to Statistics Austria, 6,316 people died from a Covid infection, which was almost seven percent of the deaths. That is significantly less than in 2021: This year, almost nine percent died as a result of Covid disease.
