Redmi Turbo 4: MediaTek’s dimensity 8400 Sets a New Standard
Get ready for a game-changer in the mid-range smartphone market. The Redmi Turbo 4, slated for an early January launch, will be the first phone to boast MediaTek’s revolutionary Dimensity 8400 system-on-a-chip (SoC). This marks a significant leap, introducing an “all-big-core” CPU design to the upper-midrange segment for the first time.
But what does this mean for performance? While benchmark scores aren’t the sole indicator of real-world usability, they offer valuable comparisons. Early Geekbench results for the Redmi Turbo 4, featuring the Dimensity 8400, are now available, providing a glimpse into its capabilities.
The leaked Geekbench 6.1.0 results show a single-core score of 1,642 and a multi-core score of 6,056. The Dimensity 8400’s CPU architecture comprises one 3.25 ghz core, three 3 GHz cores, and four 2.1 GHz cores—all based on the Cortex-A725 design. This all-big-core approach promises significant performance improvements compared to previous generations.
The Redmi Turbo 4 prototype used in the benchmark test boasted 16GB of RAM and ran on Android 15. While 16GB is the featured RAM in this benchmark, expect variations in RAM options to be available at launch. Adding to the excitement, rumors suggest this device may see an international release, potentially rebranded as the Poco X7 Pro.
“The Dimensity 8400’s all-big-core CPU design is a game-changer for the mid-range market,” says a source familiar with the development. “This will allow for significantly improved performance and a smoother user experience.”
The Redmi Turbo 4 and its potential Poco X7 Pro counterpart are poised to shake up the competitive smartphone landscape. With its powerful processor and anticipated global availability, this device is one to watch in the coming months.
