Redmi has created a new mid-range hit
It looks good, has decent equipment, and doesn’t cost much
The variant with a four-color leather back is especially interesting
The Redmi brand, which belongs to China’s Xiaomi, this week introduced the new Redmi Note 13 family of smartphones. It consists of three separate smartphones in total, with the top model Redmi Note 13 Pro+ offering an unexpectedly interesting price-to-performance ratio. Although it is an upper mid-range phone, it does not lack elements known more from flagships.
Redmi Note 13 Pro+: black, white or four-color?
The novelty from Redmi impresses not only with its equipment, but also with its appearance. Today, straight sides are modern, but the Chinese manufacturer decided to combine them with a rounded back and display, so the phone does not look as “cubic” as the competition.
Redmi also played around with the design of the back, although conservatives can go for the plainer white or black version with a matte glass back, but if you like a bit of extravagance, you can choose a version made of vegan leather in four colors – purple, blue, green and white. The icing on the cake is IP68 water resistance, which is a first for the Redmi smartphone portfolio.
A 6.67″ display with curved edges extends across the front of the phone. It is an OLED panel with a resolution of 1220 × 2712 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The display will please you with a maximum brightness of 1800 nits and high-quality protection provided by Gorilla Glass Victus. The display also includes an optical fingerprint reader and a hole for a 16MP selfie camera.
A total of three lenses protrude from the upper left corner of the back, behind which the following cameras are hidden:
200 Mpx main (Samsung ISOCELL HP3) with optical stabilization 8 Mpx wide-angle with 120° field of view 2 Mpx macro
Inside the Redmi Note 13 Pro+, the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra chipset beats, supplemented by a sophisticated cooling system consisting of a graphite sheet with an area of 4000 mm2 and an evaporator chamber. In the maximum equipment, the phone will offer up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is also proud of perfect connectivity – wireless standards 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 or NFC are a matter of course, and Redmi also adds an infrared port. The physical data and energy connection is taken care of by the USB-C connector, through which, among other things, the integrated 5000mAh battery is charged, the maximum charging power is 120 watts. The Android 13 operating system with the MIUI superstructure is preinstalled on the phone.
Prices and availability
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ impresses not only with its appearance and equipment, but also with its price – in China, prices start at CNY 1,999 for the 12/256 GB variant, which translates to about 7,600 crowns including VAT. On the Czech market (if it reaches us), it could cost under 10,000 crowns, which would not be a bad price for the given equipment.
You could also save by buying the Redmi Note 13 Pro variant (without the plus sign). It looks the same, it has only a few concessions in terms of equipment – the protection is only IP54 and the performance is handled by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. The phone has a larger 5100mAh battery, but with slower 67-watt charging. This model also has a 3.5mm port, which the Plus variant does not have. The price for the basic variant of 8/128 GB is 1,499 CNY (about 5,700 crowns including VAT).
