The novelty from Redmi impresses with a pleasant ratio of equipment and performance
The phone is attractive for its design and 100MP camera, but the lack of NFC is disappointing
The price in China starts at 4,500 crowns
Yesterday, the Redmi brand presented a new range of Redmi Note 13 smartphones. In a separate article, we presented the flagship Redmi Note 13 Pro and 13 Pro+, now we will look at the basic model, which has slightly weaker equipment, but looking at the price, all compromises are easily worth it you forgive
Redmi Note 13: a nice mid-ranger
In terms of design, there is nothing to criticize about the presented novelty, at first glance one would without hesitation classify it in the higher price tiers. The phone boasts a thin body (7.6 mm), modern straight sides, a modest-looking photo module and thin frames around the display – the chin is only 2.25 mm thick. The increased IP54 resistance will also please you.
A flat 6.67″ Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz extends across the front of the phone. There is a “drilled” hole for a 16MP selfie camera in the top center, and on the back we find a 100MP camera with an aperture of f/1.7, which is accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor. We’d rather see a wide-angle sensor instead.
Redmi Note 13 is powered by a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6080 chipset with an octa-core processor (2x Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.4 GHz and 6x Cortex-A55 clocked at 2 GHz) and Mali-G57 graphics. There will be several memory variants to choose from, the highest one can have 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage with the possibility of additional expansion with a memory card. Old-timers will also be pleased with the 3.5mm headphone port.
The phone gets its energy from a 5000mAh battery, which is recharged via the USB-C port with a maximum power of 33 watts. Wireless communication is handled by Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3 and an infrared port, unfortunately the specifications do not mention NFC. The equipment also includes a fingerprint reader in the lock button. The operating system is Android 13 with MIUI 14 superstructure.
Price and availability
The Redmi Note 13 will be available in China first, and will be offered in white, black and blue. The prices of individual memory variants are as follows:
6/128 GB for 1,199 CNY (about 4,500 crowns with VAT) 8/128 GB for 1,299 CNY (about 5,000 crowns with VAT) 8/256 GB for 1,499 CNY (about 5,700 crowns with VAT) 12/ 256 GB for 1,699 CNY (about 6,400 crowns with VAT)
Global availability is not confirmed at the moment, but given the sales of the previous model, we can probably count on it.
