I recently went to a BR meeting in Augsburg in May. But I also like to travel by car in other ways, as you can read in my most recent posts:

Now the invitation to a wedding in Cologne was due last weekend.
How do I want to get there?
At the aforementioned BR meeting, a citizen reporter came from Hamburg to Augsburg by train. She’s about my age, so I should try it and manage to ride the train.
I made a quick decision to plan my trip to travel with the DB again after 15 years!
The journey there wasn’t that great!
From Gotha to Mainz and from there after changing trains – was planned.
In Mainz, the connecting train was gone and the next good connection in terms of time meant for me the return trip to Frankfurt Airport and from there at least to Cologne Trade Fair, from where I then took a taxi.
In addition to the back and forth, it was particularly stressful to carry my heavy bag at the Frankfurt Airport train station from one platform to the other platform, which was almost intentionally far away.
And in Cologne-Messe it was the long way to the taxi with this travel bag, which was getting heavier and heavier.
Well, I could have bought a traveling bag on wheels. But with 15 years of absence from the railway I hadn’t thought about it beforehand.
The return trip is completely different!
After a hearty breakfast, take a taxi to Cologne train station. From there quietly to Frankfurt-Hbf. There is enough time before you can continue your journey directly to Gotha. It was a really relaxed return trip.
However, I’m sure you’ll understand that I really enjoyed getting back in the car this Monday!
A train journey is certainly always an experience in itself – but I can gladly do without it at the moment!
My teddy in the car was happy to have me back too!
