Redfall on PC: A Beta Version with Performance Issues and Limited Settings

In general, Redfall on PC does not feel like a finished game, but some kind of beta version. In the graphics settings menu, for example, you can find only the basic options that are standard for Unreal Engine 4. A Digital Foundry specialist complained about the lack of “transparency” for the user and the preview of the settings – he compared Days Gone and Returnalthat were understandable and accessible in this regard.

On the plus side, Redfall has support for all major upscaling technologies like FSR 2, DLSS, and XeSS. However, the activation of each of them entails some graphical problems.

Another plus is that in the PC version of Redfall there are no stutters that occur due to compiling shaders. Such a nuisance was seen in another novelty, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. However, both games suffer greatly from stuttering during in-game movement and CPU limitations.

All this makes Redfall “blatantly unplayable” on average hardware, and an optimal gaming experience is not achieved even on cutting-edge processors.

As noted by Digital Foundry, the only solution to problems with low performance, FPS drops and more is a 30 fps limit. He also noted that changing Redfall’s settings to something below the highest just doesn’t make sense, as the game looks bad anyway.
