Back in mid-summer, we informed you that the then-only three-month-old game Redfall from developers Arkane Austin was only being played by a handful of people on Steam. While of course we admitted that the game was also released on Game Pass, there is a certain relationship in the level of interest in the title, and the publicly available statistics from Steam were indeed alarming. It was all exacerbated by the fact that the developers themselves and representatives of Microsoft spoke to the effect that Redfall would be one of the most supported games from Arkane, which at least promised to fix the initial shortcomings, add a 60 fps mode and add content that would attract and most importantly keep players. But even after another two months, nothing has changed, at least for the better. The already unflattering statistics from Steam are even worse, and as the magazine points out, for example PCGAmesNthere are times when Redfall doesn’t even have the number of people playing within that platform to put together the necessary team of four.

If you look at the SteamCharts, you’ll find that only 30 players have played Redfall at any one time in the last 24 hours. Currently, at the time of writing this report, there are only 10 people in the game, which is just sad proof that something it’s not okay After all, even the highest number of concurrent players, which Redfall has only 1560 on Steam, is a clear proof that the game has not appealed to many players, and at the moment there is no sign that it should get out of this problem. Redfall received the last update in June, a month after its launch, but what is even more serious, the game has not yet added any other playable heroes to complement the original four. The developers promised them to those who buy the $30 Bite Back Special Edition, which is — by the way — still on sale, while content remains elusive.
Also, Arkane developers are not very good at communication, given that the last post on social media is from September 12 and the questions of the players in the comments below it remain unheard. Naturally, fans are asking about the missing performance mode and the mentioned characters that are supposed to come in the form of DLC, but no official opinion on how the new content is going is coming from anywhere. And not even from Phil Spencer, who after the release critically acknowledged that the launch was not very successful and vouched for improvements. But then speculation began to emerge that the developers were not happy with the game during its development, and some even hoped for a cancellation after Bethesda was bought by Microsoft. It is therefore more and more clear that Arkane wants to move on and forget about the episode called Redfall, but it is especially problematic from the point of view of the described Bite Back edition, for which players paid with a view of the expected expansions. If it doesn’t make it to the game, the only way is to refund players, which naturally won’t do without another wave of criticism and tarnishing Arkane’s reputation.
