To say Redfall’s launch was terrible would be an understatement. Just about everything went wrong, as Arkane Austin failed to deliver on its promises to gamers, didn’t deliver content on time, and received mediocre reviews from the press, despite its inexperience.
While the studio promises to enhance the game and bring it to its full potential, it’s going to be an uphill battle to regain players’ trust in the game.Currently, its player count on Steam is typically in the single digits (e.g.SteamDBshown), sometimes so few that it’s not even theoretically possible to fill a group of four vampire hunters. It has had less than ten concurrent players per day over the past few weeks, with a peak number of 35 in the past 24 hours.
We’d assume there might be more players on Xbox thanks to Game Pass, but this does exceed the abysmal numbers. Do you think Arkane Austin can make Redfall a great adventure that gamers will eventually return to, or should it stay the same and move on to the next project?
