Redditors Fool AI Bots with Glorbo Prank in World of Warcraft

Redditors on the World of Warcraft subreddit World of Warcraft have managed to trick AI bots that scrape the site for news stories into believing that Glorbo is a real feature and will be introduced in the game.

“Frankly”, begins a post of kaefer_krigerin, “this new feature makes me so happy! I just wish some major bot powered news sites would publish an article about this. I have to say that since they started hinting at it in Hearthstone in 1994, it was obvious that they would introduce Glorbo into World of Warcraft sooner or later. I feel like Dragonflight has been win after win so far, like when they brought back Chen Stormstout as the final boss in the new Karazhan? Absolutely amazing!”

This was then picked up by a media outlet in a now-deleted article titled “World of Warcraft players look forward to Glorbo’s introduction.” Glorbo sounds like it’s taken straight out of the intergalactic Rick and Morty episodes. It couldn’t be more fake, but it’s interesting to see that AI bots looking for news stories can be manipulated in this way.
