Reddit shares gained momentum

Wednesday was a relatively quiet day on Wall Street and all the leading indices ended in the red.

The industrial-heavy Dow Jones fell 0.4 percent, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended down 0.2 and 0.1 percent, respectively.

Health, communication and technology were the sectors that did best. Merck ended up 2.3 percent, while Twitter and Adobe rose 1.5 and 1.1 percent, respectively.

According to CNBC investors are waiting for the next data points on inflation, to see if the price pressure is only temporary as a result of rebound from the pandemic.

– US stocks have mostly been stuck since mid-April and it does not look likely it will break out any time soon. Investors want to see how strong the price pressure will be, says analyst Edward Moya in Oanda to the news agency.

Reddit stock sharply down

The memo share mania continued on Wall Street and on Wednesday the eyes were on Clover Health, according to CNBC. The share started the day up 12 percent, before the share at closing time was down close to 24 percent.

Clover Health is the latest in a series of shares where Reddit users are trying to make a short squeeze. On Monday, the share rose 32 percent and the following day the price increase was a formidable 85 percent.

Recently, stocks such as AMC and GameStop have been much in focus after private investors tried to write shorter.

Fear, gold, oil, interest and crypto

The VIX index, popularly called the fear index, rose 5.2 percent to 17.95.

The gold price was down 0.1 percent and an ounce went for 1,891.8 dollars.

North Sea oil was traded for 72 dollars after a decline of 0.1 percent.

The 3-month interest rate was unchanged at 0.025 per cent.

The interest rate on the 2-year-old was unchanged at 0.153 per cent.

The 10-year interest rate fell 0.41 basis points to 1.487 per cent.

The 30-year interest rate fell by 0.41 basis points to 2.168 per cent.

Bitcoin was up 7.8 percent to $ 36,042.

Ethereum rose 1.8 percent to $ 2,552.
