This information was given during a press conference on the 13th edition of this program, held on January 7 in Hanoi.

As of January 7, “Red Sunday” has been organized in 16 locations and has collected nearly 11,272 units of blood.

According to Lê Xuân Son, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Tiên Phong and chief organizer of the program, after 12 editions, “Red Sunday” has become an event of deep humanitarian significance at the national level, aimed at overcoming the blood shortage. during the Lunar New Year. This year the program was launched earlier, catching the attention of many agencies, units and a large number of residents of different ages and professions.

The 2021 program is organized from December 2020 to March 2021 nationally by the newspaper Tiên Phong, in cooperation with the National Traffic Safety Committee, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the Committee of piloting of the mobilization for voluntary blood donation, as well as the sections of the Communist Youth Union Ho Chi Minh in many cities and provinces.

Launched in 2009, “Red Sunday” has grown into an annual event of national significance. In 2020, due to COVID-19, many localities and units could not organize it as planned, but 47,000 units of blood were nevertheless collected.
