American and British forces hit positions of the Houthi in YemenUS officials announced, continuing military action against the movement that launches attacks against merchant ships in the Red Sea.
According to a joint statement by the countries that either took part in the operation or provided support, 18 Houthi positions in eight different locations in Yemen were hit. The targets included underground caches of missiles and other weapons systems, anti-aircraft defense systems, radar and a helicopter.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the strikes were aimed at hitting and further degrading the capabilities of the Iran-backed Houthis. “We will continue to make it clear to the Houthis that they will suffer consequences if they do not stop their illegal attacks, which are damaging the economies of the Middle East,” he said.
Since November, Yemen’s Houthi rebels have been targeting ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden that they say are linked to Israel, in a show of “solidarity” with the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, where war is raging between in the Israeli army and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
