“Red Girls Fight for Promotion to National 3 in Intense Season Finale”

After a good performance last Saturday for their last home match against HBC Crepy en Valois (victory 37 to 21), the Red Girls rank second in the standings with an additional match on their competitors.

The good news of the weekend comes from Tourcoing where the locals won with a score of 26 to 22 against Marcq HB, a direct competitor on the climb.

A match at 3 for 2 places in National 3. Indeed, while the leader Wattrelosien is guaranteed to reach the top level, behind are 3 teams which will fight for the last two places, Marcq HB, Agreement EAL Abbeville / AFSB and Valenciennes HB.

Let’s now take out the calculators, in the ranking:

  1. Valenciennes Handball = 51 points (+ 1 game)
  2. Marcq Handball = 47 points
  3. Entente EAL Abbeville/AFSB = 45 points (- 1 match)

Valenciennes Handball will end the season with 2 trips, to Wattrelos (1st) this Sunday at 5:00 p.m. and to Marcq (3rd) on Saturday June 3 at 5:30 p.m.

Marcq Handball will receive Calais (7th) this Saturday evening, will travel to Clermont (10th) on May 21 and will finish at home against the Red Girls (2nd) on Saturday June 3 at 5:30 p.m.

The Entente EAL Abbeville / AFSB will receive Tourcoing (6th) this Saturday evening, the Entente Wambrechies / Premesques (11th) on May 20, then the HBC Villers Saint Paul (12th) on May 27 and will finish away at HBC Crépy -en-Valois (8th).

A lot of scenarios are possible to see the Valenciennes reach the top level, here are a few:

• If Marcq loses and VHB wins this weekend = Ascent to N3 assured.
• If Abbeville loses and the VHB wins this weekend = Ascent to N3 assured.
• If Marcq and Abbeville win and VHB loses = VHB will have to win at Marcq on the last day to move up to N3.

A completely crazy end to the season for the girls of Franck Beraud, who went through all the emotions during this season in order to offer themselves a breathless final sprint thanks in particular to 9 consecutive victories since January 15th.

In the first leg, the Red Girls lost 30 to 25, the young goalkeeper Léa HAYE made 12 saves at 34.5%.

Everything will start this weekend with this complicated trip where the Red Girls will have to end the series of more than 4 seasons of invincibility at home in the CO Wattrelos HB championship.

So if you are a fan of VHB, Valenciennes sport or simply ready to push the Valenciennes to the feat, we give you an appointment this Sunday, May 14 in Wattrelos, kick-off at 5:00 p.m. (Rue Alain Savary)
