A hundred people has shown this Saturday his rejection to the project of the electrical substation in the area of Los Portichuelos promoted by Red Eléctrica de España (REE) with its participation in a march that has passed through the mountains of La Línea.
The participants have been summoned by groups such as the La Línea Neighborhood Federation (FLAVI), Verdemar Ecologistas en Acción and other entities to express their opposition to installation considering that it mortgages one of the few free land for the development of the municipal term. The march took place just hours after the president of Red Eléctrica, Beatriz Corredor, promised in the city before the mayor, Juan Franco, to look for alternative locations.
Even with this announcement, the protesters have continued with the call and have carried banners with allusive slogans since the beginning of the route, which has started from the Margarita Center, at the roundabout at the entrance to Santa Margarita from the Higuerón road, along the path Puerta Verde to the Tourist Viewpoint.
Among the participants, the Councilor for the Environment, Rachel Ñeco, has also been part of the entourage that has marched in a row and wearing masks at all times.
The convening platform has insisted that the project “Destroys the only possibility of future growth close to the area in the urban, residential and tourist development plan as generators of wealth ”. In addition to the impact on the residential areas of Santa Margarita, Venta Melchor and Alcaidesa in La Línea, and Sotogrande in San Roque, with the consequent devaluation of all that high value area.
