Leeds –
David De Gea compliment the appearance of Harry Maguire. Maguire appeared solid to deliver Manchester United not conceded during the 2-0 win over Leeds United.
Man United won 2-0 victory over Leeds at Elland Road in the Premier League continued match, Sunday (12/2/2023) evening WIB. Two of the Red Devils’ winning goals were born in the last 10 minutes of the match from Marcus Rashford (80th minute) and Alejandro Garnacho.
This result made MU continue its positive streak by not losing in the last six matches. Eric ten Hag’s troops were finally able to return to a clean sheet in the Premier League. The last time United did so was in their 3-0 win over Bournemouth in early January.
MU did not concede a goal by playing Harry Maguire as a starter. He was a duet in the heart of defense with Luke Shaw.
MU has always kept a clean sheet in the last three matches when Maguire appeared as a starter. Previously, he played from the early minutes against Bournemouth as mentioned above and then during the 1-0 win over West Ham United.
This season, Maguire is not MU’s first choice. He has only appeared 10 times in the Premier League with most of them coming off the bench.
Maguire performed well against Leeds. He actually made a blunder by thinking his bait ball could be cut by Jack Harrison. Fortunately, Maguire can do it recovery to recover the ball as Harrison closed in on goal. Quoted from WhoScored, the 29-year-old defender made one successful tackle and won three aerial duels.
Maguire’s solid performance in this match also received praise from David de Gea. This man from Spain said Maguire appeared fantastic to help MU score cleansheet.
Great game, we know if we can defend cleansheet, we were going to win the game, so we did. We fought to the end like a team. Players like Harry (Maguire), he hasn’t played as much as he could. He played today and he played fantastic so that means the team is playing strong,” De Gea said as quoted by the BBC.
