Red Dead Redemption Remaster: News, Rumors, and Possible Release Date

Last week, out of the blue, the news broke that a ratings board in South Korea was reviewing 2010’s Red Dead Redemption. Why, that was the follow-up question, but at this point, the answers are only coming from a drawer of educated guesses and, of course, speculation. But if you’re holding out hope that a remaster is on the way, which was mentioned alongside a possible PC version, then we have another strong hint that you’re in for it. Behind him is the journalist Colin Moriarty, who for many years linked his career with IGN magazine, only to leave and continue on his own under the banner Last Stand Media on Patreon. Moriraty, who belongs to a handful of very credible sources, then confirms in one of his latest podcasts that he has heard about the Read Dead Redemption remaster and that he has even seen something, thanks to which there is no doubt about the preparations for an improved version.

“I can say that I have seen the certificate of authenticity [téhle zprávy]. I don’t think you need it, but someone behind the scenes got in touch with me and showed me something that definitively confirms the game is coming,” Moriarty said in the paid podcast Sacred Symbols. He then adds the hinted information that the announcement could come very soon, possibly as early as August, and generally confirms that the rating commission in South Korea does not make things up and simply assesses what someone has submitted for assessment.

Magazine Insider Gaming then adds the idea that the Red Dead Redemption remaster, which may be quite popular thanks to the very popular sequel, is probably Rockstar’s way of diverting attention from the upcoming GTA VI at least for a while and thus giving its teams a little more space before should the much-desired continuation of this series be announced and introduced. Of course, this would also make sense from the point of view of long-term planning, and we would not be at all surprised if the RDR remaster caused/enabled the first information about GTA to arrive at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year. But we’re still talking about Rockstar and Take-Two, companies that are very reluctant to talk about their big projects unnecessarily ahead of time, so at the end of the day, it’s just going to have to be patient, which fans have to arm themselves and simply wait.
