Red Dead Redemption 2 Players Launch Campaign to Rockstar Update Red Dead Online

They had not received any news for months, which caused great frustration Red Dead Redemption 2 community.

If you’ve been on social media for the past few days, you’ve seen the hashtag #SaveRedDeadOnline, which contains about 20,000 tweets and is part of a large Red Dead player movement trying to get Rockstar’s attention.

This isn’t the first time, or even the second or third time I’ve seen something like this, and the neglect of Red Dead Redemption 2’s online mode seems to be due to a long-standing problem, as opposed to the much older but more widely played and more lucrative With GTA Online, Rockstar’s hen laying the eternal golden egg.

This latest outburst on the part of fans came after Rockstar announced that all of the new Red Dead content starting in 2022 would be just an update from older, existing content additions, nothing else.

During previous protests over Red Dead Online’s status, players all wore clown costumes. This time, I don’t know if they’re planning an in-game action, but it doesn’t seem like much has come out of this rampage in recent years. In comparison, Rockstar gives GTA Online frequent, large-scale updates, most recently a new series of story missions featuring Franklin and Dr. Dre, known from GTA 5. RDO 2 players, including the higher profile creators, do not tolerate this well.

  • Make updates to GTA Online
  • GTA 6 work (long delay due to the never-ending success of Part 5).
  • They’re working on other projects (according to the latest rumors on a new Bully game, but who knows).

So Red Dead Online’s updates are pretty much slipping from the priority list to nihil, and that’s obviously frustrating for players who thought it would be a “live” game that would last a long time and handle as well as its companion title, GTA Online. This is far from the case.

I doubt Rockstar will ever ever officially announce it will stop developing new Red Dead Online content because they want those who have persevered so far to continue to pay. But many players are simply already at the end point, and Rockstar doesn’t seem to have much to say when these protests happen.

The GTA is Rockstar’s ATM, and their first, second, and third priorities, whether it’s remakes, online additions, or upcoming sequels. I don’t know what could change the fate of Red Dead Online, but I wouldn’t be surprised if nothing happens with the biggest content updates anymore.
