Red Danger Warning for Floods in Vestland – Årdal institutes emergency personnel

– It’s about safety, says municipal director Stig Stark-Johansen in Årdal Bergens Tidende.

He leads the emergency response group in the municipality, which has now set up emergency personnel and closed schools.

– We are a municipality with a lot of flood and landslide problems, and now there has been a landslide in Utladalen recently, so that’s when we decided it, says Stark-Johansen that, among other things, they have closed the schools.

The municipality informs who have deployed security personnel and machines in areas where it is known that there may be problems.

Stark-Johansen says he is concerned that the bridge over the River Utla, near the Tronteigen area, could collapse if the current in the river becomes too strong. So the damage to nature and property can be great.

Varsom.no has now issued a red flood warning for central and inland parts of Vestland County.

The consequences can be extensive flooding, erosion damage and flood damage in exposed locations – and several roads and bridges can be closed.
