This Saturday the World First Aid Day is celebrated and from the Red Cross they claim the importance of training from the school environment in this matter under the motto “Be a first aid hero at school and in your community.”
In fact, the organization has given workshops on first aid to more than 2,400 students throughout the province of Alicante throughout 2021, workshops given thanks to the participation of volunteers from 15 local Red Cross assemblies.
Fedra Molina, Red Cross Health technician in Alicante, points out that the entire population should be trained in first aid since it is about care in case of emergency or accident, something that can happen in any area or time and that can come save lives.
For this reason, he considers it essential that from “very young” they know how to act for the prevention and detection of basic dangers in the daily environment. At these levels, children are taught, through games, to know how to call the emergency services or request help, something that helps them improve their skills and remain calm in the face of “a dangerous situation” such as a burn, an accident traffic or drowning.

The Red Cross has also carried out awareness-raising training activities in sports associations, of fathers and mothers, and in other areas. In 2021, the organization has given 120 first aid courses, training around 1,200 people.
Fedra Molina calls on this International Day to make more resources available to citizens, such as more defibrillators in public spaces and that this matter be established as a basis from Education.
