Red Cayenne Pepper Prices Drop in Indonesia, Rice and Protein Foods Rise

Based on the National Food Group Price Panel, the average price of red cayenne pepper today (10/5/2024) dropped to IDR 42,530 / kg compared to last week’s price (3/5/2024) which was IDR 45,620 / kg. In several areas, the price of red cayenne pepper has fallen in the last week.

Then in the Papua Mountain Region, there was an increase of IDR 21,230 / kg. Then last week it was at IDR 108,770/kg and today it is at IDR 130,000/kg.

This contrasts with the average price of red chilies which increased by IDR 2,590/kg. From IDR 48,440 / kg to IDR 45,850 / kg.

In addition, the national average price for staple rice today remains at IDR 15,640/kg. At the same time, the price of medium rice rose IDR 30 / kg compared to last week to IDR 13,570 / kg.

The average price of imported dry seed soybeans fell compared to the previous week from IDR 13,170 / kg to IDR 12,100 / kg. On the other hand, the price of paws also fell from IDR 50,830 / kg to IDR 48,760 / kg. Followed by the price of bulb garlic falling by IDR 210/kg to IDR 43,100/kg.

In addition, the price of pure beef was reduced compared to last week. The average price of pure beef is IDR 135,390 / kg from IDR 135,620 / kg.

At the same time, it has been seen that the price of protein food from chicken is rising over the last week. The average price of pure chicken meat came to IDR 37,880 / kg from IDR 37,330 / kg and the price of pure chicken eggs came to IDR 30,500 / kg from IDR 30,360 / kg.

The price of other protein foods, such as mackerel, was seen to rise to IDR 37,260 / kg from IDR 37,050 / kg. In contrast, tuna and milkfish fell with prices falling to IDR 31,690/kg and IDR 33,030/kg respectively.

The price of other food needs, such as plain packaged cooking oil, increased by IDR 10/kg from IDR 17,890/kg to IDR 17,880/kg. It was observed that the average price of bulk cooking oil had dropped in the last week from IDR 15,890/kg to IDR 15,830/kg.

It was also observed that large wheat flour and non-large packaged wheat flour were declining. Last week’s wheat flour cost IDR 10,550/kg to IDR 10,410/kg. Likewise, non-bulky packaged wheat flour was IDR 13,410 compared to yesterday’s IDR 13,470 / kg.

Other food needs, such as sugar consumption, are priced at IDR 18,400/kg. Meanwhile, the price of breeding kindergarten corn today is IDR 5,870/kg and the average price of salt today is IDR 11,530/kg.
