Red Bull Racing Honda RBPT racer Sergio Perez was the fastest in qualifying 3 (Q3) Formula 1 (F1) United States Grand Prix (GP) 2023, Sunday (7/5) in the morning WIB.
The United States Grand Prix F1 qualification was held at the Miami International Autodrome Circuit, Florida, on Saturday (6/5) afternoon local time or Sunday (7/5) early morning WIB.
In the first two minutes of qualifying three (Q3) Max Verstappen managed to lead the fastest time followed by Fernando Alonso and Charles Leclerc.
After that, Verstappen continued to lead the best time record, but the second and third positions continued to change.
In the fourth minute of Q3, Alonso took third place, followed by Sergio Perez. But it wasn’t long before Leclerc broke into second place.
In the fifth minute, Sergio Perez performed brilliantly by breaking into pole position with the fastest time of 1 minute 26.841 seconds, followed by Fernando Alonso with a gap of +0.361 seconds and Carlos Sainz with a gap of +0.508 seconds. Meanwhile, Verstappen had bounced to ninth position.
Perez continued to lead until Q3 left one minute 50 seconds. However, with 1 minute 46 seconds remaining, an accident occurred that befell Ferrari racer Charles Leclerc which halted qualifying with a red flag. However, Leclerc was not injured.
Finally, after the red flag was raised, the qualification was not continued. Sergio Perez finally managed to record the fastest time and successfully occupy pole position at the United States Grand Prix F1 race on Sunday (7/5) local time. While the second position is occupied by Fernando Alonso and the third position is occupied by Carlos Sainz.
