Red Bull is currently building a new engine factory for which recruitment is already underway. The intention is that some 300-350 employees will work at the new Red Bull Powertrains factory, which is currently being set up on the Red Bull campus in Molton Keynes.
Over the past period, Red Bull has already managed to lure a number of people away from competitor Mercedes. One of them was Ben Hodgkinson, who will be the new Technical Director of Red Bull’s new engine division. According to the German Auto Motor and Sport Six more people have been added, which will soon bring the total to about fifty former Mercedes employees.
The German medium also reports that Red Bull is also lurking for the engineer who is directly under the former Mercedes engine boss. Andy Cowell, has worked. Cowell himself previously indicated that he did not want to switch to Red Bull and even wanted to do things outside of Formula 1.
It remains to be seen how many people will work in Red Bull’s new engine department. The new engine regulations will be finalized later this year. In addition, the upcoming budget cap will probably also mean that Mercedes will have to significantly reduce the workforce, which offers Red Bull the opportunity to attract even more new people from the competitor.
