There are turbulent days behind Red Bull Salzburg. After the clear 3-0 home win against WSG Tirol, managing director Stephan Reiter gave an insight into the rapid departure of ex-coach Matthias Jaissle, who recently switched to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli. “We all imagined the end of Causa Jaissle differently. What sticks for me is that we had two great years,” said Reiter on Sunday on “Talk & Tore” on Sky TV.

However, those responsible in Salzburg were very surprised when Jaissle announced two days before the first game of the season that he wanted to leave the club. “Matthias informed us after the press conference (on Thursday, note) that he wanted to change and that everything was negotiated and ready for him. That put us under pressure because we hadn’t had any negotiations at that point,” explained rider. 24 hours earlier, a transfer had been ruled out by all those involved.

For riders, it is legitimate that a coach can change clubs just like a player can. Nevertheless, in the short time available, those responsible for the cops were forced to “set the pace so as not to lose message control,” as Reiter emphasized.
In the end, this led to a reasonable solution. Jaissle was given the opportunity to say goodbye to the team and Salzburg quickly introduced a new coach in Gerhard Struber. “We ended up winning a great transfer for the club and Matthias is now in Saudi Arabia as he wanted and has a new challenge,” added Reiter.
