On the Thursday before the Qatar Grand Prix, top teams Red Bull and Mercedes are still busy with last week’s race in Brazil. During the race, a defensive move by Max Verstappen on Lewis Hamilton was labeled ‘let them race’, but after seeing new footage, Mercedes has asked the FIA to reassess the incident.
Mercedes is given the opportunity by the safety body to substantiate their ‘right to review’. Red Bull must also report to the FIA, at the same time as Mercedes. The Austrian racing stable gets the chance here to refute a possible penalty for Verstappen. Representatives of the top teams must report to the stewards at 3 p.m. Dutch time on Thursday.

Will Verstappen get another penalty?
During and after the FIA meeting it must be decided whether Verstappen will still receive a time or grid penalty for his defense against Hamilton in Brazil. A five-second grid penalty could cost him three World Cup points, which could be very valuable points at the end of the season. The gap with Hamilton in the driver’s position is only fourteen points.
