Red Bull Finds New Location for F1 Wind Tunnel Development

Red Bull has withdrawn its planning application for a new F1 wind tunnel, but only because it has found a newer, more suitable site for it. F1 analyst and broadcaster Sam Collins told X on Monday that Red Bull’s plans had been “set back” after the company withdrew its application to build a new facility in Milton Keynes.

Some thought this would cause major delays to Red Bull’s future development, but it has since emerged that planning permission was withdrawn simply because the team had found another location. Red Bull had originally planned to build the new facility near its technology campus in Milton Keynes, but has now found a more suitable location. According to prominent Dutch F1 journalist Erik van Haalen, Red Bull officials insist the decision “has no impact on costs or plans.” Red Bull hopes to have the new facility up and running in time for F1 car development in 2026. The reigning world champions are currently undergoing a major expansion of their Milton Keynes headquarters, including the construction of a new Red Bull Powertrains facility with support from Ford. Upgrading the wind tunnel has been a long-awaited issue for Red Bull, which has used the old RAE Bedford research facility, designed at the end of World War II, for aircraft development since entering F1.
