Red Bull F1 leaders ‘Fly to Japan to negotiate with Honda'[F1-Gate.com]

Red Bull F1 motorsport consultant Helmut Marko says he will fly to Japan to negotiate with Honda.

Red Bull was negotiating a partnership with Porsche for the next-generation F1 powertrain in 2026, but it was announced in September this year that the talks had collapsed.

FIA President Mohamed bin Sulayem recently suggested talks with other teams were ongoing with Porsche despite talks with Red Bull having halted in 2026.

The recent death of Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz and the appointment of new sports CEO Oliver Mintzlaff have hinted that talks between Red Bull and Porsche may resume.

However, Red Bull F1 motorsport adviser Helmut Marko has denied reports that talks between Red Bull and Porsche will resume.

“No,” Helmut Marko told Austria’s Laola1.

“But I will fly to Japan for negotiations with Honda.”

Helmut Marko, 79, recently admitted he has not yet had his first detailed talks with Red Bull’s new management and is believed to have to renegotiate his contract.

“I did it out of love for Dietrich Mateschitz, a visionary who understood the whole picture perfectly,” said Helmut Marko.

“As long as you understand that the atmosphere is no longer for you, no problem. You can leave today or tomorrow. But luckily the fire is still burning.”
