Gianni Moscon is ready to start again wearing the colors of Red Bull – Bora – hansgrohe. After some difficult seasons between Astana Qazaqstan and Soudal Quick-Step, in 2025 the Trento native will be able to start again once again with a new team, with the aim of returning to the rider who did so much good in past years, in which only so much bad luck took away his chances of winning the Paris – Roubaix in 2021. Interviewed in Radio Corsathe weekly cycling program produced by Rai Sport, the 30-year-old Italian said he was confident for next year, also thanks to the excellent signals that the first training camp with his new team left him.
“This for me is a year of great changes for the better. I recently went through a training camp with the team and there is already a serious, professional atmosphere and people work well. The team invests a lot right from the medical visits, we are carrying out very in-depth checks. We were at the Red Bull Performance Center in Salzburg where all the Red Bull sponsored athletes pass by and it is clear that they want to grow as they have done in other sports besides cycling.”
For next year, therefore, the objective is to have everyone review the Gianni Moscon of 2021 even if, the 1994 class member admits, it is now increasingly difficult to obtain results, especially considering the increasingly high level of all the competition: “The I miss Gianni Moscon from the 2021 Roubaix a lot, then unfortunately you have to deal not only with yourself but also with your opponents and now the level has unquestionably risen. Today, to occupy the same position in the group compared to a few years ago, you need to produce 10% more power. This year, however, I was fine, I was at my almost optimal levels, perhaps something was still missing also due to the two difficult years I went through. I think the level I had at the Tour was an excellent level. There is still room for improvement, but then you have to take into account your opponents. But with a good day, the condition of life and a little bit of luck I believe we can still gain some satisfaction. However, we have to be satisfied with fewer days of glory also because with the direct clash with the current big names there is no history and we have to invent something different”.
