JAKARTA – The Laskar Merah Putih (LMP) organization is prohibited from spreading Red and white flag 21 meters long on the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) bridge, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Tuesday, August 17, 2021. The ban was carried out by officers from the TNI-Polri and Satpol PP Penjaringan.
The reason is that the raising of the flag is considered to cause a crowd in the middle of the Implementation of Level 4 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).
In this incident, the LMP had an argument with the three pillar officers regarding the prohibition of unfurling the Red and White flag on the PIK bridge. The officers briefly closed the PIK bridge and temporarily diverted the flow of traffic. After negotiations, finally dozens of LMP members disbanded in an orderly manner.
LMP Commander Daeng Jamal revealed that his party plans to unfurl the red and white flag on the PIK bridge with the aim of enlivening the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day as well as eliminating the stigma of society, if the area is controlled by foreigners.
“Which is definitely the first purpose of the 21 -meter -long red and white flag in order to commemorate the Proclamation of Independence, so we use this moment,” said Daenk Jamal.
“Including where during the independence period, we want to prove, so far, the people’s assumptions about the existence of Pantai Indah Kapuk are considered to be controlled by foreigners,” he continued.
For this reason, LMP wants to prove that even the children of the country can stand tall in PIK by unfurling the red and white flag, because it is still within the territory of the Republic of Indonesia.
“We want to prove that we can stand here at Pantai Indah Kapuk by flying the Red and White flag. This means that this is still the territorial sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

The presentation of the flag, he continued, was supported by the community in the PIK region. However, due to pressure from the management and the rules were broken, the flag was finally unfurled.
“We see that the PIK community’s interest actually supports only the management, because it is under pressure and regulations so that it is not carried out properly. But we are not discouraged until here,” he said.
